DAY ONE of the 108 in 30

Picture
A picture of my father , who is still teaching Yoga and QiGong about 4 to 6 times a week. Despite health challenges, he loves and believes in the moment.  I am proud to take after him!

Yoga in my home is a family affair.  Jagger is one of the best yogis ever!!! He has Savasana down!! ( you should see his down dog....lol)

You know, when I teach, I am easily on the mat ready to go.   When it is my private yoga time, I try to get out of it with every excuse in the book.  Do you do that too?

Today was the first day of the challenge to do 108 sun salutations in 30 days.  I put it off as long as possible.....lol. After teaching yoga this morning, I went to several stores to buy the supplies of life for my family.  For some silly reason, I wanted to start this challenge at Percival Landing.  Then it started to rain.   Almost was my out to the justification to "start tomorrow".

And a phone call knocked me right out of that.  My father called me to wish me happy birthday.  He shared some health challenges with me ( that I will be keeping private, he is a private man and that is part of what I respect in him),   He shared with me the kind of challenges that would give anyone reason to stay home and feel sorry for themselves.  Not my father. He is still teaching yoga after all these years. Health challenges be damned.

So after wiping my tears of gratitude for this man, I came home and did my 108 sun salutations.  My father told me that he had done one set of 108 a few years ago ( probably had " plank"  and down dog involved) and he had hurt his wrist that never really recovered.  ( I love learning from more experienced yogis than I, thank you again Dad for being a voice of wisdom).

This affirmation from my father gave me the strength to move through the pain in my feet.   Once I stopped allowing my body to bully me into a place of fear.....boy did my head take over.   I processed my father, my body image issues, pain in my feet, felt like giving up, then my " I'm not worthy" showed up with supporting messages of " you just want to be resistant to input."

Here it comes, the break through. I began to sweat. As I felt the sweat start in my hair, down my neck, I could feel health showing up for me.   Suddenly , the poor self esteem dropped, I didn't have to try , it just did.  I started to feel forgiveness with each breath, but it was forgiveness to myself.   That was a surprise, the noise that I was allowing in my head was my own noise.  No one was talking to me, I was in control of the conversation.  I suddenly " got off my own back!"  As I poured my all into the last 8, I felt powerful, sensitive, focused.   My phone rang with my mother's ring tone and I continued to stay focused.

Then onto Savasana.  It was powerful.  I laid on my bed, face up, the sweat continuing to pour from me, feeling my blood pressure pulsing, then stabilizing in my system. As the pulsing stopped, a new level of calm returned to me.  All suddenly became well.

WOW, and that was all day one!
