Dixie Rock, Santa Clara, Utah Yes, those are adults on the top!

Yoga for me is more than a physical routine, it has helped to heal my heart and my way of functioning in the world.   Every year that I get to interact with students, practice on my own or study , I become different.  Actually , I think I am becoming more myself, the person I was always meant to be.

This past month, I went to Utah to visit my family.  I had super slippery shoes on and we were going to climb Dixie Rock.  With no traction and a hip that was calling me names, I stood at the base of the ascent ( lol I make it sound big but my 5 year old granddaughter scaled it in a millisecond!)

I was terrified, literally.  Caught somewhere between trying to be a good guest and a complete melt down, I looked up this  carved in staircase ( again...laughable! slippery as .......)  Then a women came up next to me, her family also ran right up the wall. We looked at each other and I felt my students next to me.  Suddenly one of " my people" showed up.  I told her " you go, I'l go".  Both of us scaled the stairs, to our waiting families ,smiles all around.   One more time, yoga calmed my anxiety and allowed me to be fully present.

I came home and had felt so alive, that I decided I wanted more adventures like that.  While I was totally scared I would bite it, I was also totally alive in that minute.  ( this is yoga for sure, this is why we love it so much! Yoga shows us how to feel alive in the rest of our lives!)  I called my TV provider and disconnected my TV.  ( for full disclosure , there is still live streaming, can't completely cut the cord yet...lol)

I was surprised at how the weekend had so much peace, quiet and ( wait for it) conversation!  My mind felt peaceful without the noise of " who I should be" and what I should buy.  I listened to music, connected with new friends, spent real time with my kids.  Yoga has taught me that disconnection can bring a new level of connection.

I hope to see you on the mat this week. I have posted the poses for the week ( it's all about the arms!) , a printable list of affirmations for your week to share and believe and a little more information about rosemary essential oil.

Have you ever wondered what you can do to increase your mindfulness.  Let your yoga come off the mat, into all of your life.  Cut the negativity, embrace the silly. Watch the gratitude build and the fear begin to melt. Only joy and love will remain.

Namaste
